Aryn was a volunteer first responder at ground zero on 9/11 where he spent 4 days (24/7) on the "pile". Thirteen-years later he developed and survived inoperable stage IV cancer. As a result, he learned to trust the process and always pay it forward.
Growing up Aryn played competitive sports most of his childhood and played racquetball, men’s soccer and co-ed softball into his 40s. He began coaching youth sports for his sons in 1987. In 1990 Angel Sponsors sent his U14 AYSO Spring Select team to a Nike training Camp in Lake Tahoe, CA. His youngest son played high school and club water polo. His school team qualified for Junior Olympics twice, and his Club team traveled and competed internationally thanks again, to Angel Sponsors.
Aryn was introduced to pickleball in 2017 and started playing in 2022. All-in on day-one he did two-a-day practices for two months with his friend, and pickleball mentor, Murray Sielsky. Murray is a multi-time medal winner at the Canadian National Championships, Certified Level II NCCP Instructor and Certified Referee.
Aryn is a PPR Certified Level I instructor and a serial entrepreneur. As such, he began laying the groundwork to pay it forward through pickleball by helping to sponsor highly competitive junior players. The first, Lauren Mercado is now a professional player and plays internationally. In 2024 he introduced and helped sponsor Darcy Shore (17) of Las Vegas and Jacob Bolkowy (14) of Canada who won Gold at the 2024 USA Junior Nationals in Mesa, Az. It was the first time they played together.
As a result of Aryn's life's experiences he discovered the USJPO would be his way to always pay it forward.
